The inputs above will be hidden when the program finally gets launched. Currently, I am not hiding them even when you close the calculator. The purpose of the inputs is to help in debugging. This allows you to enter simple code on the calculator screen but the program translates the input to javascript math. Give it a try and see if you notice any obvious problems or have suggestions for improvements.

Generic Rectangles

Generic rectangles, of the general form outlined above, are based upon the area concept and can be used to multiply binomials. They can also be used for factoring.

Notice that given the dimensions on the outside of the smaller rectangles, one can compute the areas of each.

Calculate the area of the entire generic rectangle by calculating each area and combining like terms.


Note: When entering the area products, only enter a polarity sign when the product ends up negative.   Please do not enter a plus (+) for a positive result.
